These black mustard weeds were found growing as an invasive species, in a roadside nature preserve in Irvine. They’re still bright yellow in December, strangely enough as I haven’t seen black mustards thriving like this other than in the spring. The weather sure is nice today though, which might be helping them thrive even now. Surely these will dry up by the end of the summer, turning the yellow-green hills to brown.
Wide basal rosette, lobed leaves hair is visible, flowers are small and yellow clustered together
Medium length bush with stem covered with multiple light green bluish tint leaves that are heart shaped.
