A few weeks ago was the big bioblitz in Del Rio, Texas which I was fortunate enough to go to, as well as being able to spend some time in Austin and San Antonio before and after the trip. It was great to get out, be on the road, and explore a new ecosystem I haven't really seen. It was a little early for peak dragonfly diversity but I saw lots of cool stuff and some interesting odonate parasitism by dipterans which I had not yet seen in person.
As these things can be sometimes, better than seeing whatever was out there, it was fun to see so many different people from all over and hang out and explore together. One trip, in a way facilitated by iNaturalist though otherwise unrelated, was a brief excursion @tadamcochran and I took to Mexico one night after a group dinner. I wrote about it on my blog here, if you would like to check it out.
Thanks to everybody who made the trip out to Del Rio and special thanks to @sambiology for doing the organization/logistics for these things. I look forward to doing more soon.
Male Enallagma novaehispaniae
Found this little guy in the beautiful habitat along San Felipe Creek.
Male Brechmorhoga mendax patrolling territory
This spot along San Felipe Creek was one of the most tranquil spots for me despite its proximity to the road and other people.
I included some habitat shots I took with the phone while wading in the water. Very serene spot.
Male Argia sedula
Near Moore Park. We stopped to look for Argia rhoadsi but didn't find any.
The water was low enough to stand in the creek and shoot toward the vegetation lining the edge.
Asilid predating moth
Antlion hanging out on a rock
A bird of some sort singing and fishing or something
Male Hetaerina americana coming in for landing on territorial perch
Juvenile female Enallagma exsulans with two dipteran parasites (tight crop on second photo)
Juvenile male Enallagma exsulans with hydrachnid parasites
Male Argia fumipennis
I was happy to see this species on the Del Rio trip as I don't normally see it around home. Very beautiful colors.

Male Enallagma durum predating tipulid
Roadkill on the way to the campsites and boat loading ramp. There was another less than 100m down the road.
Argia immunda ovipositing
Found some spots to walk along the inside of the creek. Lots of damselfly activity.
Female Argia sedula wing-clapping
After looking at this I see I missed the middle position, so this isn't quite how it looks or the correct speed...just a general visualization.
