Rare, on noted on totara.
Big one hiding in a massive sponge.
~10cm long
~3m subtidal
Edit: I went back almost six months later and it is still there in the exact same spot. 29/09/22
A very cool nudi I haven't seen before. Certainly seems to be adapted to live on that exact or similar sponge species as it blends in very well.
~0.7 cm long
This guy always follows me round. I think he waits for me to kick up some stuff from the seaweed which he can eat.
~40cm long
This is the first photo of a Kakapo drinking in the wild.
Really beautiful flatworm. Under a rock.
@stephen_thorpe @clinton @predomalpha Any ideas on this beauty?
collected by Leigh the ranger only hours before from a wild kakapo nest. unfortunately the candling process shows it is infertile.
Kakapo poo, from a female named Yasmin.
Found in seaweed. To which species of seaweed I am unsure. Moved to pool to photograph then put back.
Tamaki Drive seashore in the vicinity of Tamaki Yacht Club, Mission Bay/Orakei, Auckland 1071. On the underside of an intertidal rock.
The video shows the live slug under seawater, cradled in my hand.
Although this is my first observation for this species, that is likely only because I have overlooked it until now.
