Growing on a well decayed Quercus agrifolia log.
Thanks to Evelyn Chea for showing me the location - it's the same log from https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/195513390
Scorpions with two metasomae (tails) are extremely rare, with one estimate I saw as one in every 5,000 specimens. This specimen is approximately 3cm long head to stinger and is being maintained in captivity to study its behavior.
I found this using a black light flashlight with BJ Stacey (@finatic) at the Carrie Nation Trailhead parking lot at Madera Canyon, Arizona.
Read a detailed account of this specimen's discovery and observation updates at the journal post linked below:

Feeding voraciously on a spicy wing from Pizza Hut...
Florida Bluet riding a sandwich through the inky void. This is not an altered photo, nor was this my sandwich.
A green chiton attached to a half crab. We observed this alien looking commensal beast while undertaking an intertidal survey on the reefs off Hawera. It made us jump when we first turned over the rock.
Lots of lake life on this piece of e-waste
No words. Just shock and awe. Rabbit captured at 10:54am and fully consumed by snake by 11:28am. 34 minutes.
I see this "blobs" now and then while diving, curious what they are. I assume it's not a coral, but perhaps someone can point towards the right direction. Quite small, 1cm across or so.
White morph. Black Oak trail.
