I was sharpening my chain saw in my barn and this young snowshoe hare comes up to me and was listening to the music I was playing. I stopped the music and he quickly left. I went back to sharpening with the music back on and he came back, listening intently. The song was And We Danced by the 80s group The Hooters. It could have been the keyboard harmonica that this band was famous for that acted like a pied piper. He left when the next song was from Led Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song.
I observed this snake stalking and devouring a rabbit. Wow, what a sight!
From the USGS Natural History of Patuxent: The White Deer of Patuxent:
"Piebald deer (partially white) are from a recessive genetic trait and the deer usually become more prevalent due to overpopulation of a deer herd.... Most white deer are short-lived and usually have abnormalities, such as deformed feet."
