Description
This green anole on my air conditioner caught my eye this morning. On closer inspection I saw a lump with a big black hole in it. I don't see how this lizard is alive. What in the world did this? Fungus? Insect? Is this a new thing in South Georgia? I don't have the stomach to google this. I can barely look at these photos. I had to include one of a healthy anole just as an eyeball cleanser.

This is a rare piebald buck on our families property back home. He is one of 3 that are running around. He is the first buck we’ve see colored like this. We estimate this guy to be about 1 1/2 years old.

What makes these clumps high up in these branches? They seem to be branches themselves rather than nests.

I found this just as the tide was starting to go out at the water's edge. I'd be intrigued to learn more about it and if anyone else has found d similar specimens this far south.it did have a fishy smell and we checked it wasn't plastic by putting a flame onto it and it definitely smelt like burning cartilage and didn't melt, just charred.

Maybe a pox? 3rd day seen here. Eyes mostly shut at this point, sometimes with a nut to eat. Can’t see me approach but can hear me. Fur is very shaggy like there are lumps underneath

Notes from member of the Indiana Native Species Facebook group when posted: “That’s because several guys went to Canada back in the 90’s and captured them. They let them go at Mounds state park, Alexandria, Marion, Muncie, and up north near Wabash. Supposedly they did this in Michigan in the 60’s. It was an environmental college project. Very well known to the smaller town schools in the 90’s.”
