Obviously terrible photo from a screenshot...the video below is slightly better. But we got a good long look at the tentacles, possibly two individuals interacting, as they rose above the water multiple times as we sailed by. Sasquatch jokes are welcomed.

Dark morph. Saw it soaked and washed up, so I gently carried it to dry sand. Watched it for hours and it appeared very weak. After the sun set I decided to take the little guy to a local rescue. Hopefully there, the dude can regain strength.
It's probably not HPAI, and it's likely something like starvation, or plastic intake. Hopefully the little guy will be able to get fattened up at the rescue and rereleased soon.

Description
Large patch of a low prickly pear cactus, growing just outside of the Bonelli Bluffs RV Resort, in Bonelli Park, in the San Jose Hills range. It's quite possible that this was planted here, but it seems a somewhat odd place to plant this, as this particular area is really outside of the managed area of the resort. Coin used for scale is a US quarter dollar (¢25 piece), 24.26 mm, 0.955 inch in diameter.
