Syntrichia ? leucostega.
Leaves mid green. Costa green or yellowish green, excurrent into a long hyaline arista, the arista fawn or fawn in lower half and white/colourless in the upper half or wholly colourless. Laminal KOH colour reaction - no reaction (cf. yellow to orange in Pseudocrossidium, in 2% KOH solution). The yellowish green colour of images 5-7 is an artifact of light.
Very rare at the site. I haven't seen the species anywhere else in the City of Bayside.
Terricolous, on earthbank beside the road in tall open forest dominated by Eucalyptus regnans.
