I don´t know how to distinguish between common and brown skink.
Its head was stuck in an old leaf folded up with spider web, which was why it was out in the middle of the path when we found it. I removed its hat (which was well stuck on) and it scuttled away.
Discovered on estate road late at night after being crushed by a vehicle - delivered to DOC the following day for genetic testing and data capture.
Found this patient green gecko on my path but can not specify it correctly...
Wondering if Common Skink or perhaps Mcanns? Any help would be greatly appreciated - thank you.
This is the only photo I got before it scuttled away into the grass. You can see a short section of the skink's tail right in the middle of the photo. It will be a common skink or a McCann's skink.
Sunning itself on rocks.
Many skinks with different markings- please identify and also are these from the same species?
