Description
Locally common along roadside and in "gumland scrub". Generally a scarce species around Auckland now having succumbed to gross habitat modification, weed killers and ignorance (this species is indigenous NOT naturalised - see de Lange & Murray 2002)

Description
Another new arrival to the Chatham Islands from New Zealand. This species, first noted wild around Auckland in 2010 is now very common throughout the Auckland urban area (and along the main motorways) and has been noted as far south as Rangariri (Waikato) and as far north as Kataia. It is locally common around Auckland Airport.
On Rekohu I noted occasional plants growing in cracked asphalt near airport security fence (these all removed). Presumably introduced there in baggage or passengers footwear / clothing from New Zealand.

Big Bend.
I guess this is Dichanthium annulatum. It would normally have four or more rays in the inflorescence. Plants here are barely managing to produce any flowerheads. They are heavily grazed by agile wallabies. This is presumably why they can only manage two rays per inflorescence. The rays are too slender for D. aristatum. There seems not to be any other possibilities. Definitely Dichanthium and not Bothriochloa.
