Mating pair of Galeopterus variegatus (Sunda Colugo)
20 Sept 2024 (Fri)
12.59pm it started with 1 Colugo gliding to the tree trunk, followed very closely by the 2nd Colugo. Within seconds, the male was on top of the female and mating process begin.
Male seem to be biting the female, and female bite back. After about 2 minutes, the movement and biting stop, and the pair remain on the tree trunk. The male will move it's legs slightly from time to time.
110pm still there, not moving.
Male is purplish from neck downwards, was that it's original colour or did it change colour to attract the female?
Other differences:
1) White line under eyes not so bright and prominent.
2) Face part seem shorter
3) Nose hole seem smaller
4) No white line at lips area?

I think its Elateridae, Agraeus
But the pronotum part is abit different from what I used to see. There are no humps on the pronotum, it seem more like a semi circle shape. Edge of the pronotum is reddish brown.
Elytra (parts of it) is probably covered with mud which has dried up... Wish can wash it up 🤭 but it keep moving non stop.
