Description
A Wavy-lined Emerald Moth (Synchlora aerata) caterpillar (larva), covered with flower petals to camouflage itself as it feeds on the center of a Black-eyed Susan. This species is the only widespread species to camouflage itself in this manner.

Description
What caught my attention is that huge pair of eyes staring at me like an Owl.!!
They were restless, flying from one plant to another...
I witnessed this scene for at least 5 mins before they flew into a thicket...
I was lucky to get this shot.

Description
A couple of these caterpillars were eating Hollyleaf Cherry plant In Rattlesnake Canyon in the Los Padres National Forest. Many Pale Swallowtail adults flying in Canyon. Partly cloudy day in the 70’s F.
