Description
Earlier I saw numerous divots in the sandy gravel on the beaches along the river. In the afternoon any query I had was answered when I found this.

Maybe a gall? coming from the trunk small tree. Did not take good enough note of what species the plant was but maybe Pomaderris or one of the daisies. There is a dried up daisy flower in the image.
