Observed on a fence in East Harlem.
Red-tailed Hawk flew over into the the harrier's territory and this brave male relentless tried to harass the hawk into leaving. His mate, sitting on a nest in the marsh called encouragement. When he was unseccessful in his attempts to chase off the hawk, the female harrier flew off the nest and together they eventually chased the intruder off.
A pair seen patrolling the beach head, also harassing some of the local gulls.

Love this guy...
Wonderful bird, was great to observe today, didn't believe it at first.
This Peregrine Falcon was rehabbed by the man in the photo for 3 years. This is the moment that the bird was released back into the wild. We all watched as the bird flew further and further out of site. The man attempted to call it back in to see if it would return, but it did not. Seems a successful rehabilitation.

There was a big movement of blackbirds today. We watched the male catch 2 Red-winged Blackbirds in the 15 minutes that we watched. It appeared to stash the first one on one of the towers at the lift bridge and then went back to hunting...
