Description
According to Grant & Myers (2013) Silverstoneia minutissima differs from S. erasmios, S. gutturalis, S. nubicola, and S. punctiventris in lacking conspicuous dark ventral markings (other species ventrally black, gray, or spotted); S. dalyi has an immaculate venter but usually has dark postrictal markings and is restricted to lowlands (30–450 m). Silverstoneia minutissima is most similar to S. minima, from which it is diagnosed by the light dorsal surfaces of the thighs (dark in S. minima) and different pigmentation on the dorsal surface of thigh (see figure 14 in Grant & Myers 2013).
In addition, Silverstoneia minutissima is primarily distributed in the Río Atrato drainage, on both sides of the upper Río Atrato. Therefore, this specimen was found in the distribution range of the species..
