Stamens long-exerted and larger leaves with only ~15 leaflets, both suggestive of P. vanbruntiae in Gray's Manual key (Fernald 1950). Alder floodplain along brook. Last two photos are of two smaller plants growing within a half metre of the larger individual.
This parcel of crown land never ceases to surprise me. I suspect due to the access issues (wet ground surrounding) this isolated part hasn't been cut ever or in at least 120 years.

One of roughly a dozen similar individuals located on a high and lonesome hill surrounded by wetlands. This particular tree measured 93 cm at DBH.
