Description
"There was a pile-up on the 605 porchlight today. An 18-wheeler Gelechiid nearly crushed a passenger Pyralid. A Lexus leafhopper skidded to a halt, barely missing the other vehicles. Remarkably, no one was hurt in the incident."

My original specimen that I thought was female then male then female. And reviewing my bugguide submission was even more confused back then. Has 6 abd segs, 12 antennal segments and clear foreleg hairiness on the forefemurs. Captured in my front yard. Still have her. Took a new full phone shot.

Observation and photographs are by my partner, who does not have an iNaturalist account. Permission to submit these were provided by him. This moth (if the base ID is correct) seemed like a rare find; it hasn't been reported in Arkansas on MPG or iNat so far.

Climaciella brunnea. Cruickshank Trail, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Titusville, Brevard County, Florida, USA.
The most exciting encounter of my Florida trip. And there were hundreds of them sitting in the grass on the dike. I initially mistook them for paper wasps, but something was strange about them, even from a distance.
