One the cultivated population derived from B. repens. Uploaded to demo papillae on abaxial leaflet surface.
Micrograph taken using a light-leaky dissecting scope at 40x.
Under lesser magnifications, the whitish stomata will appear most prominent, but will not diagnose papillate from epapillate taxa.

Description
Sprague Lake out in the channeled scablands has interpretative signs with a photo labeled "green rabbitbrush" without the botanical name, maybe referring to Chrysothamnus viscidiflorus, which on this website is named “yellow rabbitbrush”. But the many rabbitbrush plants like this one near the sign had gray leaves and seem to be a better match for E. nauseosa. If someone can ID this, can they please also check https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/30694418 ? The flower structure is so complicated, I don’t know what I am supposed to be seeing when I compare the various goldenbushes. I didn’t think it was particularly strong smelling, but then I had been sniffing sagebrush.

Incredible encounter. Foraging around a fairly exposed tidepool in the lower-mid intertidal. Not sure on how to ID between giant pacific and east pacific, but it was pretty small. Looking at now, I think it may be a giant, but not sure. Fantastic encounter, one of my coolest ever wildlife experiences

Description
Very cool to see flowers, buds, and fruit flopping over the leaves, waiting to be dispersed by ants. This is a known site. I didn’t find any other plants in the immediate vicinity, and this one has been spreading via stolons. The smell of fish guts almost knocked me over; more aptly named than the Oregon fetid adders tongue, which I didn’t find fragrant. This year is a cold, late spring, so this plant might bloom earlier in other years. Note that the road up to the redwoods trail is inaccessible by car now due to many down trees; this was about one mile up the road after abandoning the car. Still a good walk along the road with many redwoods.
