Gotta be something cool. Land snail at base of tall limestone cliffs which provide a cooler, shadier microclimate. Deep cracks around they could hide in. Looks like Sonorelix borregoensis, but a good deal smaller in size. So I’m guessing the same genus.

Empty shells observed between granite boulders on rocky slopes. @cedric_lee @davegoodward I didn’t want to disturb the habitat by moving rocks but based on the empty shells observed in just 10 minutes looking between boulders I’d say this isolated hill supports a healthy colony!

I believe these are Helminthoglypta salviae mina based on their diminutive size and flattened spire. Shells range between 15 - 17 mm. I’m just unsure if the species is found this far east of the type locality.
@cedric_lee @davegoodward Could any of you confirm the identity?

Three shells deep in talus within 5 feet of each other. The one on the right in photo 3 is very flat, while the one on the left has a high spire. That's a lot of variation in one local population. I doubt if there is more than one species there.

The spire is reduced on this shell compared to what I think of as Sonorelix rixfordi (the only Helminthoglyptidae that I see as being in this mountain range. It looks more like Eremarionta morongoana which is present one mountain range away.
Found exposed in a rocky wash.
