Collected in a small patch of roadside meadow under a stone, in association with Solenopsis fugax (typical form).
The Solenopsis were nested near Lasius flavus, Plagiolepis sp. and Tetramorium impurum colonies.

I need help identifying this insect. It has characteristics of both a wingless wasp and an ant. It has an 11 segmented antennae with a 3 segment club that’s separated. It has a sting on its abdomen. It has wing scars on its thorax. It also has one petiole. It doesn’t seem to have protruding mandibles.

Description
Not my photo, but IDing for my uncle. Two grubs which appear to be surrounded by a sulphur-coloured substance; seem to have been inside some kind of blob of dirt which fell on a patio cover. Each of the yellow parts seem to be some kind of cell, with a larvae on each. Whole item is 1 inch wide. Any ideas?
