Perennial herb growing from a woody rootstock with numerous annual stems up to 2 m long. Stems pubescent, quadrangular below but less so above. Leaves ovate-lanceolate, up to 45 x 19 mm, margins serrate, petiole c. 2-3 mm. Inflorescences laxly paniculate up to 45 cm long. Corolla c. 13 mm long, tube c. 7 mm long.
Growing in Kalahari (miombo) woodland in Kalahari Sands.

A small squat herb growing in sandy rock pockets on rocky outcrop. Leaves and stems thickened and hairy - leaves with reddish margin possibly because of dry conditions. Flowers blue, well spaced, lower petal bends up where the tube splits.
