Angiopteris marchionica (possible synonym of Angiopteris evecta) on the edge of the rainforest at the Zanira Lodge near Teahupoo on Tahiti Iti, French Polynesia. Photographed on 22 July 2017.
In Polynesia (botany.si.edu/pacificislandbiodiversity/marquesasflora/in...) and Hawai'i (botany.si.edu/pacificislandbiodiversity/hawaiianflora/ind...) this is called Angiopteris marchionica originally described from the Marquesas Islands, however the Plant List (www.theplantlist.org/tpl1.1/record/ifn-34846) lists it as an unresolved name and some sites treat it as a synonym of A.evecta.
Compound leaves; leaflets arranged alternately; fine toothed margins; >20 veins on each side of midrib; Petiole swollen at base; glossy upper surface
One big plant near hut. Not seen elsewhere in vicinity. Also in concrete drains of hillside roads between here and Noumea.
