I had pinned OK slough as a spot that would probably be good for swampsnakes and apparently I was right! I might have seen one getting off of 41 in the Everglades, but I'm not sure, so for all intents and purposes this is my lifer. the road was crawling with them, tho unfortunately road mortality was high and only three were alive. It's weird how they can go from dull matte brownish to brilliant blue depending on the lighting.
Nicest live one on the night. Weirdly enough it was way more aggressive but more photogenic than the first one. The blues in these are insane!
I didn't pick it up since I figured it would be nasty (in both senses of the word), so I gently put my foot on it to detain it. Yeah that was a bad idea, now my shoe will smell like nerodia for the rest of its existence.
Second individual in my yard in a week, which is pretty cool this far inland. My brother will post the other individual.
