Found on a sandy cliff looking out towards the ocean
I came across this wild radish plant while on a walk. It was the only one, there were no others, at least none that I saw. It’s leaves are pretty large and thick, they also have some type of fuzz on them. The plant had small purple/white flowers, that had only four petals with yellow in the middle where the pollen is.
Three Monterey Cypresses (Cupressus macrocarpa), photographed at Carpinteria State Beach in Carpinteria, CA. These trees are certainly not native to the area, as they were originally restricted to surprisingly small patches of the Monterey peninsula, so human hands have played some role in their appearance here. However, I have no way of knowing whether they were planted here directly, or if they were waifs germinating from naturally dispersed seeds of previously cultivated parents.
