Dead bird remains. Plucked? Karearea kill?

and another drowned bird. I am wondering whether the Karearea has been operating in the area for a while and was responsible for the two dead birds found in a barrel of water - maybe stunned by a Karearea dropping on them while trying to drink from the barrel, and subsequently drowning in the barrel.
