On dead wood and old bark of conifer log. Sporocarps: 1.4-1.7 mm, ochraceous-brown. Peridial plates not well-defined; inner surface of peridum hyaline, marked with swirling pattern. Stalk: 0.8 mm, equal in length to diameter of sporotheca, longitudinally rugose. Elaters: 200-500 um long x 3.8-8.6 um diam., 4 spirals, tips 7-15 um, short, acuminate, often curved. Spores: 10.3-12.3 um, yellow, minutely warted.
The substratum was Fagus or Picae tree material.
1st picture is the same organism after a mere two hours. Mind-blowing!
I’ve seen several instances of this, this Spring on a variety of plants. Suggestive of insect eggs but I doubt that.
