I was very surprised to see this little fellow in a hole in the middle of a dry, grassy field. There are thousands of them along the creek, some distance away.
Found in a hole in the ground. Near a wet soil area, far from any bodies of water
In a pile of old lumber. Near irrigation canal. Frog song started about a week and a half ago after pond filled from rain

A few of several juvenile treefrogs that we had encountered in the pools and streams of Malibu Creek State Park on an afternoon hike. I want to say they were Baja California treefrogs, but I am not certain if that is their species.

Upset several nearby raven which were notably smaller.
Pacific giant salamander eating a frog!
This is a Coastal Giant Salamander (Dicamptodon tenebrosus). The giant salamanders I'd seen previously were sizeable, but not exactly deserving the title. This one was different. Probably the biggest salamander I've ever seen in the wild.
Single one out on the far tip of the island this day...
Easily about a dozen of them hanging out together.
