Lobelia aff. woodhill
Locally abundant on sand in dry stream bed and on surrounding faces in pōhutukawa remanant. Sterile.
Patch along park side drain.
common in well lit areas at top of hill towards Glenvar Road.
Scattered plants on ridge under puriri.
No one I have shown this to has come up with a satisfactory identification. It is big like astelia grandis but it is well above the creek and along side dracophyllum sinclairii. Our local council guy thinks it might be a hybrid. There are plenty of them in this one part of the reserve.
The biggest ones (from which the leaf sample comes from) are above a deep cut channel leading straight down to the stream.
