Difficult to tell if this is the weed Gamba grass, without seeing an inflorescence. Very hairy stems and much less hairy leaf seemingly non-irritating after touching. Substantial population in this delicate habitat (Banksia, Melaleuca woodland) in which many sensitive herbs, sedges and flowering trees grow. Currently grown to about 1.5 m high. In the heart of Charles Darwin National Park this tussock forming spreading weed would be a serious concern.
Growing in a patch of spring-fed rainforest approx 15km from Gapuwiyak.
