Three New Zealand dotterel. One appeared to be a chick/juvenile hanging closely with mum (see first and last two photos)? Chick/juvenile was noticabley smaller than 'mum'.

Banded tui visiting our feeder often lately (2 blue on left leg and blue above metal on right)... in company of a very large unbanded bird that practically lives here.
Seen high in a willow tree.
Tui in a eycaluptus tree near Otepuni creek. Often see them there.
I think that this bird is a Red Billed Gull.
Bird was feeding on dried Morton Bay fig squashed on a car bonnet.
Bloody cat! Stick to sparrows!

Fantail seen hunting flying insects under street light by the Hudson hall car park during dark hours.
Seen for the last 2 weeks almost every night.
Fantail flies up and catches insects which are attracted to the light.

I found this abandoned nest under a small log in an area of regenerating forest near a small stream. I don't know what birds would lay their eggs on the ground in a place like that.
