Plant was located in a dry upland site. Because the awns are hygroscopic, I took some fruit to dry it out to see what the awn looked like. The seed photo is taken several hours after the original observation to account for that drying period.

I think it's nuttalanthus but unsure. If so, a spring ephemeral probably not caught often. Doesn't look like WAHMAR.
