Roxy Forest Journal #01

I sat with my kiddo at the site of Glenelm's new community garden, where the soil under a large triangle of freshly removed sod awaits the next step. We dreamed together about how the kids of the neighbourhood could become a part of this garden and the surrounding wild edges. Someday, the edges and garden will blend together, and the kids will be its fairies.

As the garden is built and the surrounding forest concept develops, I want to focus on this area and document its development back into a healthy natural community of plants and wildlife. The dream is that someday this area can live up to the name Roxy Forest, but there are many steps that need to take place before we can get there.

I've enjoyed time in this park since my family moved to Glenelm five years ago, but I want to take on the unofficial role of Resident Naturalist for Roxy Forest. That means I need to start a journal to track my observations and share them with others.

I've attached two observations from that time in the park with my kid. That baby oak will not grow up alone.
