I've been a birder since ~2007. Some time around 2022 I started paying more attention to insects and other tiny things. I've had a lot of fun over the years contributing to citizen science, and keeping lists of various taxa that I've photographed locally and worldwide.

My favorite taxa include Robber Flies (Asilidae), Hover Flies (Syrphidae), Soldier Flies (Stratiomyidae), Dragon/Damselflies (Odonata), and Lady Beetles (Coccinellidae).

Some of my photos are taken with my iPhone, but when I have the time I enjoy using my Canon T7 DSLR with a Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro lens. I find that this lens works great for macro opportunities, and is also long enough to be useful when my subject is camera-shy.

My profile pic is a male robber fly from genus Neoitamus (Now known as Bentbristles!). I look forward to them appearing every April in my area.
