I am an Adjunct Professor of Marine Science at both Southern Cross University, Coffs Harbour, NSW, Australia and Universitas Pattimura, Ambon, Indonesia. My research focuses on marine biodiversity and its conservation and I am particularly passionate about marine molluscs - especially sea slugs. I co-founded the citizen science Sea Slug Census program at Nelson Bay in December 2013 and have championed its expansion to many other locations in Australia and overseas.

I have an extensive scientific reference collection of shells, especially from northern NSW, and am gradually digitising this and uploading images to iNaturalist to ensure that these records are included in public biodiversity databases. By far the majority (>95%) of my shells are dead taken. All collections for scientific purposes were done so under relevant permits from NSW DPI and NSW Marine Parks.
